BEA@RBRICK by Medicom Toy

BEAR, TOY OR JEWEL?
Medicom Toy is an icon of toy culture in Japan and is famous for its highly detailed characters. Twenty years ago, he landed a decidedly lucky blow by giving birth to Be@rbrick: an anthropomorphized bear.
But it did not just do this because the Japanese company was able to transform this toy into a real fetish, involving designers, artists and stylists from all over the world who have tried their hand at transforming or rather creating their own Be@rbrick.
Alongside the 100% original, seven centimeters high, other toys of different sizes were then introduced to the market: 50% 4cm high, 70% 5 cm high, 400% 28 cm high and 1000% 70 cm high. Limited editions, Be@rbrick art packaged individually or in sets of 5-6 different pieces, in any case jewel toys that have conquered collectors all over the world.
Futura, Push Head, Kaws or Mark Parker, among the underground artists, but also Karl Lagerfeld, Vivienne Westwood and the list would be really too long and certainly impossible to report in its entirety.
An inexpensive artifact turned into a fetish that costs several thousand dollars. A brilliant commercial idea dedicated to an adult, attentive, design-loving public. A potentially unlimited collection that seasonally churns out its creature with “new skin”. And for those who want to demonstrate their creativity too? There is also the neutral version: the white and colorable Be@rbrick.
Warning: it causes addiction!
